Toyota Yaris History

Some TOYOTA YARIS Wiring Diagrams are above the page.

The compact Toyota Yaris hatchback entered the European market in 1999, shortly after the debut of a similar model for Japan under the name Vitz. The car, which became a replacement for the Toyota Starlet model, was produced at a factory in France. In 2000, the model won the European competition "Car of the Year."

The Yaris installed gasoline engines 1.0 and 1.3 with a capacity of 65 and 86 hp accordingly, in the first case, as an alternative to "mechanics", a robotic gearbox was proposed, and for a 1.3-liter engine, a four-speed "automatic".

Later, a 1.5-liter gasoline engine (105–106 hp) and a 1.4-liter turbodiesel rated at 75 horsepower appeared in the range.

In 2003, Toyota Yaris was restyled: the car received a slightly updated design and modernized power units.

In the US market, a sedan version of the car was sold under the name Echo (and in Canada, in addition to the sedan, the Echo hatchback was also sold). Also in the lineup was the compact van Yaris Verso. In China, first-generation hatchbacks were produced until 2011 under the name FAW Vizi.
