In 2006, the Acura lineup, available only in the US market, was replenished with the RDX compact crossover.
Cars were produced at a plant in Ohio.
Under the hood of the car was a four-cylinder 2.3-liter gasoline turbo engine developing 243 hp., paired with a five-speed "automatic".
A feature of the model was the “advanced” all-wheel drive SH-AWD transmission with a transfer case and a driveshaft going to the rear wheels.
There is no interaxle or rear differential in this system - instead, on both sides of the rear final drive there are powerful multi-plate clutches with an electromagnetic drive that connect each
of the two rear wheels individually.
