In 2004, the second-generation Prius appeared with a modernized power plant with a total capacity of 110 hp. This car was produced until 2009.

The third generation of the Prius was produced from 2009 to 2015. The hybrid car was equipped with a Hybrid Synergy Drive propulsion system, consisting of a 1.8-liter gasoline engine (99 hp) and an electric motor with a capacity of 82 hp. (total capacity - 136 hp) Thanks to it, fuel consumption in the combined cycle was only 4 liters per 100 km.
