Harley Davidson FX Softail History

Both FX Softails — regular and custom — returned in 1989 with some changes. The new primary case now covered the starter, and it became more convenient to drive thanks to the new adjustable amorth, the stroke of which was 1/2 inch larger than the previous ones.

 

And again, Softtail sales grew steadily, although the US market continued to decline, while Softyle was one of the most expensive Harley. What was even more surprising, the sales of the more expensive Custom and Classic versions exceeded the sales by the usual 3-4 times.

 

As was to be expected, the company's revenues jumped up. Harley was still the king of sales for all of Harley. Sales basic unsophisticated Soft lagged far behind. Harley Davidson learned a lesson: a blackened engine, coupled with more chrome, led to an increase in sales, despite the higher price.
